Beauty Heroes featuring Max and Me Review

At the beginning of December, following much consideration and deliberation on my part, I succumbed and decided to treat myself a 3 month subscription of the highly praised green beauty subscription box that is Beauty Heroes, curated by the utterly charming Jeannie Jarnot, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Indie Beauty Expo (IBE) last October. She was incredibly warm, engaging and friendly and had a little twinkle in her eye when I expressed my interest in Max and Me products. What really sealed the deal for me (other than the joy of owning the very products I’d been admiring from afar since IBE) was reading more about what she has coined ‘Inspired Beauty Curation’. On the Beauty Heroes website, Jeannie talks about being in love with the journey of discovery, which I very much relate to myself. Beauty Heroes absolutely celebrates craftsmanship, innovation, and luxury so they are a perfection mélange for skincare heaven if you ask me. And so, every month they release a new beauty product, a star performer from a particular skincare brand (the Hero product) hand-picked by Jeannie herself as well as an accompanying Sidekick.

Jeannie doesn’t only curate a hero product, she digs a little deeper, makes it her mission to find out more about the founder and portrays the story behind every brand, their provenance and chronicles the true essence of the brand. Of course, all the chosen products will pass Jeannie’s rigorous testing standards and only products of the highest integrity make the cut.

December featured a brand I’d been admiring every since I spotted them at IBE London, Max and Me, founded by a husband and wife couple (Max and Tanya) hailing from Austria. I was immediately drawn to this gorgeous brand, focused on high vibrational ingredients. Some people have an aura about them, and I could tell right away with Tanya. She had the most gorgeous, welcoming smile drawing people in at their popular stand. I was way too shy to engage in a conversation with her and I wish I could have spent a minute talking to her about their utterly fantastic concoctions.

What is high vibration skincare you might ask. It is skincare that goes beyond performance, it realigns people with the wholeness that is inside them, with their innate healing abilities, it brightens up your day. And as someone who has come to rely on skincare for much more than performance (my skincare routine brings me respite during my busy days and allows me to practice mindfulness), I consider myself very fortunate for the opportunity to use such luscious skincare that can be so powerful. This isn’t a brand that will resonate with one and all, your skincare philosophy may not align with me here and it’s perfectly ok to favour a no frills approach. But to me, people who make my products matter and provenance matters.

Take for example their Sweet Serenity Mask and Wash which is handcrafted by Tanja and Max. This beautifully scented by virtue of blends of honey, cherry seed, gardenia, neroli, cacao, geranium, pomegranate and mangosteen, velvety textured mask has been a collaboration over a year in the making. I can’t help but admire that so much intention and time has gone into making such an uplifting mask come to life and that is one of the myriad of reasons why it is such a joy to use.

The Intuitive Mist, the sidekick, is one of their newly launched products I had the pleasure to sample at the IBE. A gorgeous blend of palo santo and helichrysum with yarrow and blue tansy makes this an addictive, refreshing mist that I’m infinitely ecstatic is part of my personal skincare collection.

I’m thrilled with my decision to finally subscribe to Beauty Heroes. I definitely was attracted to their high value items, no customs and easy delivery. This box feels like a little monthly treat to myself and the anticipation of unwrapping carefully curated products and that joy of using such beautifully formulated products, well, I can’t quite describe it, but I feel it’s the beginning of a very special and exciting voyage of skincare discovery and the start to an exciting foray into green beauty.
